Cardio Panel
Standard cholesterol testing tells you how much. These markers tell you the risk. Three advanced cardiovascular biomarkers that standard lipid panels don’t include: the particle count driving plaque buildup, the protective particles working against it, and a genetic risk factor your doctor has probably never tested. This is the cardiovascular data that changes clinical decisions.
Apolipoprotein B (Apo-B). The number of atherogenic particles in your blood, not just the cholesterol they carry. The single best predictor of cardiovascular events, and more accurate than LDL alone.
Apolipoprotein A-1 (Apo-A). Protective HDL particle count. Together with Apo-B, this gives your provider the ratio that drives real risk assessment.
Lipoprotein(a). A genetically determined risk factor that diet and exercise can’t change. About 20% of men have elevated Lp(a) and don’t know it. If yours is high, every other risk factor needs more aggressive management.

FAQs
Common questions. Straight answers.
Where do I get my blood drawn?
At your local LabCorp. We send you a scheduling link after ordering. Choose your location and appointment time.
How long does it take to get results?
Typically 3-4 business days. These specialized tests take longer than routine lipid panels. We notify you when results are available.
Do I need to fast before my blood draw?
Yes. 12 hours of fasting is required. Water and black coffee are fine. No food.
Why test these markers instead of just standard cholesterol?
Standard lipid panels measure the total amount of cholesterol and how much sits in LDL vs. HDL particles. That’s incomplete.
Apo-B tells you the number of atherogenic particles, which is what builds plaques. You can have “normal” LDL but high Apo-B (many small particles, higher risk), or elevated LDL but normal Apo-B (fewer large particles, lower risk). Apo-A tells you protective particle count. Lp(a) is a genetic risk factor that standard panels never include.
Apo-B is the single best predictor of cardiovascular events. Most doctors don’t order it because insurance won’t cover “advanced” testing.
What’s Lipoprotein(a) and why does it matter?
Lp(a) is genetically determined. Diet and exercise won’t change it. About 20% of people have elevated levels, which increases heart attack and stroke risk independent of cholesterol. If yours is elevated, you need to know, and your family members should be tested too. One test, once in your life, gives you that answer.
Should I add Cardio testing to my hormone panel?
Strongly recommended if you’re 40+, have family history of heart disease, have previous concerning cholesterol results, or are starting TRT (baseline cardiovascular data matters for proper monitoring). Less urgent if you’re under 30 with no risk factors or have recent comprehensive cardiovascular testing. Most men over 40 should have baseline advanced cardiac markers.
Can I add this later or should I do it with my initial panel?
Yes. Many patients do their initial hormone panel first, then add Cardio testing at their 3-6 month follow-up or whenever cardiovascular assessment becomes a priority. Available standalone or bundled with Complete Health or Longevity Pro at a discount.
