What is Telehealth?
Telehealth allows you to meet with healthcare providers remotely using video technology. Instead of visiting a physical office, you connect with your provider through a phone, computer, or tablet with audio and video capability.
At TestDepot, all consultations are conducted via telehealth. You’ll meet with licensed providers through our secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform.
Telehealth is not for emergencies. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.
Benefits of Telehealth
- Convenience: Get care from home, work, or anywhere with internet access
- No travel: Skip the commute, waiting room, and time off work
- Faster access: Schedule appointments sooner than traditional office visits
- Privacy: Discuss sensitive health topics from the comfort of your own space
Potential Risks of Telehealth
As with any medical service, telehealth has potential risks:
- Technology limitations: Video or audio quality may occasionally be insufficient for your provider to make a complete assessment. If this happens, your provider will let you know and discuss alternatives.
- Equipment issues: Technical problems (internet outages, device malfunctions) could delay your consultation.
- Security: While we use secure, HIPAA-compliant technology, no internet-based communication is 100% immune to security risks. It is your responsibility to use a secure network and device.
- Different experience: Your provider cannot physically examine you, which may limit what can be assessed compared to an in-person visit.
- Medical records: In rare cases, incomplete access to your full medical history could affect treatment decisions. Always inform your provider of all medications, allergies, and relevant health conditions.
Privacy
Your visits are not recorded for playback. Your provider uses AI-assisted transcription technology to help document your consultation accurately in our secure electronic medical records system. This is used solely for creating your medical notes, not for storing or replaying your visit.
Your environment matters. If others are nearby, they may overhear your conversation. Choose a private location for your telehealth visit.
Our technology is secure. TestDepot uses telehealth technology designed to protect your privacy. However, as with any internet-based communication, there is a small risk that unauthorized access could occur.
Your provider will disclose if others are present. If anyone else from our team can see or hear your visit, your provider will inform you.
Your Rights
You can stop using telehealth at any time, including during a visit. However, TestDepot is a telehealth-only practice. If you choose not to receive care via telehealth, we will be unable to continue providing services to you.
Cost
TestDepot does not charge for your initial consultation or for follow-up visits. Consultations are included with your treatment plan at no additional cost.
